SO finally it’s here.  I’ve been waiting for my gel manicure to grow out to try out the new Paintbox nail studio next to the Mondrian Hotel in Soho at 17 Crosby street.  First let me say it is unbelievable that we have yet to see a nail studio to the likes of this one yet.  Paintbox is the first high end nail studio, founded by Eleanor Langston, a veteran magazine beauty editor, with creative director Julie Kandalec who is a celebrity manicurist .  They carry the  top 50 polishes of the season from Chanel to Deborah Lippman, to Vinylux, a polish that is said to last 7 to 10 days.  And then there is of course the gel manicures that are my personal favorite.  Although I’ve seen many specialty nail salons  that cater to nail art enthusiasts, this one is sort of foolproof.  There is a seasonal collection of nail designs inspired by runway and editorial trends all displayed in a beautiful menu book.  What you won’t find here is endless books of overwhelming options, just a short, concise edit.   The ultra chic and modern studio has a mirrored wall equipped with  Photo Box to take nail selfies which are then emailed to you.  The entire experience is truly luxe, sip on champagne and browse through the many art books while getting pampered. Manicures are $35, and max out at $55 for designs, gel manicures are $50, and max out at $65 for designs, or just go for express mani for $20! The only downfall: no pedicures ladies!
